If a previous owner sawed off the entire dashboard to fit a modern radio, you're now faced with a problem: how to restore the dashboard to its original state in an orderly fashion?
The solution is this piece of sheet metal identical to the original, where the radio recess can be restored to the state your car left the factory in back in the day.
For owners of a pre-1966 VW Split Bus, this is quite a major repair piece, with all the slots where the speaker is mounted at the rear. For the 1967 model, this is not the case; you'll need to shorten this piece of sheet metal so that the slots at the top and bottom of the radio remain intact.
If you've decided not to fit a radio, also take the radio cover plate, which is listed in the "related parts" tab.
