Our Volkswagens are full of screws, bolts, nuts and washers, not all manufactured for a particular model, but used universally. These parts can be identified by their reference number starting with the "N" of the German word "Normteile", meaning "standard parts". Just because it's a standard part doesn't mean it's still readily available today.
These M6 cylindrical screws were mainly used to fasten the cooling jacket, but that's not all - there are many other things that were fastened using these screws.
When you use these cylindrical screws to fix the cooling plate, standard washers are not used. These washers have an inner diameter of 7 mm, which corresponds to an M7 washer, but an outer diameter of 12 mm, which corresponds to an M6 washer. In addition, they have a hardness of 200 HV, whereas a standard ring has a hardness of 140 HV. The rings to choose from are listed in the "options" tab.
If you're looking for a better or more aesthetically pleasing alternative to these factory-fitted cylindrical screws, check out the "alternatives" tab.
