Until 1961, Volkswagen offered extra-long pop-out locks on the most luxurious Volkswagen Buses, which made it possible to open the windows much further than was possible on standard models. At the time, it was only available for export Buses. They were mainly used in countries where the outside temperature could increase considerably.
With these extra long locks, the opening is doubled, which makes a considerable difference compared to the standard model. The operation is similar to the standard model, only the two small handles have been replaced by a large spoon-shaped handle, hence the name "Spoon Latch".
Not only for the Volkswagen Buses until 1961, but also for all the Split Buses.
